Day 1

Arrival in Kigali – Scenic Transfer to Nyungwe

Fresh off the plane, your guide greets you at Kigali Airport. After a brief stop at the Genocide Memorial or local markets (time permitting), hit the road southwest. The 5-hour drive is a visual feast—rolling tea plantations, rural villages, and misty hills. By evening, you’ll check into a lodge perched on the forest edge, where the air hums with cicadas and birdcalls.
Dawn breaks with coffee and excitement. At the park headquarters, rangers assign trekking groups while you gear up. The forest floor crackles underfoot as you push through vines and fig trees, tracking chimp calls. When you find them, time stops—watch juveniles tumble playfully, mothers nurse babies, and alpha males assert dominance. After an hour (the strict limit), hike back for lunch. Spend the afternoon lounging at the lodge or visiting a nearby tea factory.

Day 2

Chimpanzee Trekking – Face-to-Face with Wild Primates

Day 3

Canopy Walk & Waterfall Hike

Today’s highlight: East Africa’s only canopy walkway. Suspended 50m above ground, the 160m bridge sways gently as you spot blue monkeys and turacos flitting below. Later, hike to Kamiranzovu Marsh’s hidden waterfall, where ferns glisten with spray. Pack a picnic—this spot deserves a lazy lunch. Return by dusk for a fireside dinner under Nyungwe’s starry skies.
Another morning, another primate encounter. Large groups of black-and-white colobus monkeys leap through trees like acrobats, their feathery tails balancing each move. Post-trek, visit local communities to learn traditional basket weaving or help roast coffee beans the Rwandan way. This afternoon is yours—nap in a hammock or take a guided birdwatching walk (Nyungwe boasts 300+ species).

Day 4

Colobus Monkey Trek & Cultural Encounters

Day 5

Return to Kigali – Departure

After breakfast, wind back through the hills to Kigali. If flights allow, squeeze in a final lunch at Heaven Restaurant (their passionfruit mojitos are legendary). Your guide drops you at the airport with memories of chimpanzee eyes meeting yours and forests that felt straight from a fairy tale.
